Terms of use.
The ground rules for using FAFSAGuide. Short, and in plain English.
Using this site
FAFSAGuide (fafsaguide.com) is run by Scout Theory LLC. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
We’re not the government
FAFSAGuide is independent. We’re not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, any state agency, or any college. The official FAFSA is at StudentAid.gov, and filing it is always free.
Information, not advice
Everything here is general information to help you understand the FAFSA. It isn’t legal, tax, or financial advice, and it isn’t a promise about what aid you’ll get. Your school and the Education Department make the final decisions. When something matters, check it with your school’s financial aid office or StudentAid.gov.
Accuracy
We work to keep this site accurate and link to official sources, but rules and deadlines change, and mistakes can happen. We don’t guarantee that everything is complete or current. If you find an error, please tell us.
Links
We link to other websites for your convenience. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for what’s on them. If a page ever includes affiliate links, that page will say so.
Our content
The text, design, and tools on this site belong to Scout Theory LLC. You’re welcome to link to any page and share it with students and families. Please don’t copy the site or republish our guides as your own.
Limits on our responsibility
The site is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent the law allows, Scout Theory LLC isn’t responsible for losses that come from using the site, including missed deadlines or aid decisions.
Changes
We may update these terms. The current version will always be on this page with the date it was last changed.
